Sound Doctrine...#1.
The past few days I have been stuck in the books of Timothy. Paul must have been an encridible man to know and learn from. Such a raw reality of Christ and the life that God desired for His children. "Grace, mercy and PEACE from God the father and Christ Jesus our Lord", he would begin his letters to Timothy with. He wished for nothing but God's will and mercy to be upon God's children. He understood more about whats going on in our world today then we do ourselves it seems. The more and more time I spend on this earth the more i see the need for Sound Doctrine in the body of Christ and what it means. I myself have been guilty for adding my "doctrine" to God's doctrine. What do I mean by that? Putting our own little spin on God's word to fit our conseince, To be accepted by others, to reach the multitudes with a waterd down gospel rather then tell the raw truth and have it only received by a small few. To speak with eloquince and sound smart or knowledgable about God but really you are just BS'ing. I tend to want to follow the people who are a mess or are broken but say the truth rather then those who deny brokeness and like to appear as if they have it all together.
There are so many people who are "Quickly" raised up to be people of leadership before they are mature or spiritually ready to take on a role of leading people, because when you are put in a position of leading people you are essintially put in a position to teach people, pastor people, & influence people. Then their are people who put them selves in a place of leadership. When a person is put in a leadership position by someone, they are essintially saying, "this persons word is MY word, This persons beleif is MY beleif". When someone puts themsleves in a position of leadership they are essintially saying, "my words are sound and true, you can follow me, I will lead you in the right direction". But you have to ask yourself; does what they say or do, or does what I say or do line up with God's instructions, does it line up with His word? Is my example wothy of being followed?
Timothy was trained in the Jewish scriptures since his youth, he was the recepient of two new testament letters. He was highly regarded, considerd a leader in the new testament church. He was trusted with the scriptures because his fruit showed he would lead and teach the whole truth. He had proven himself before God and man. He was tested and found mature and spiritually able to do such a work. His heratige showed passion for the gospel and the work of Christ amongst the people. The grace of God was bestowed on him as it was us before the beginning of time, and was revealed through the appearing and life of Christ who brought life and immorality to LIGHT through the living gospel, (1 Tim 1:13) Hold to the Standard of sound teaching that you have heard from me (Paul), in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. (14) Gaurd the good treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit living in us.
Sound Doctrine is much more then pretty words spoken perectly form a pulpit or position. Sound Doctrine is the solid, unwavering, unbroken truth. The truth we need today because we are all broken. we all are a mess. but by the Grace of God we are capable of being trusted to be carriers of the "good treasure entrusted to us". The whole Gospel, the whole truth.

Beauty for Ashes
Its amazing to me how such beauty can come from such heartache. As I stop for a moment and look back on my life, I can see so many times were trials produced so much life, so much beauty, so much worth. I find that its a necessity for there to be a death in order for there to be a life. A death to ourselves. I know it's not God's desire for any of us to go through hard times. But it is His desire to seek Him. I find it is a necessary thing in order for us to hear God clearly, it is for me any way. When I become desperate, that is where I seek my strength in Him. When I become overwehlmed, that is where i find comfort in Him. When I become tired, I seek His reviving breath even more. When it appears all is lost, destroyed, un-fixable, that is were I rely on Him to rebuild, because it would be impossible on my own.
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor. (How could I have preached to the poor Unless I have been poor)
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, (Unless I have been Heartbroken)
to proclaim freedom for the captives (Unless I have been held prisoner)
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn, (Unless I have mourned myself)
and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor. ( we are His glory on the earth, refind by fire and trials, being what we are called to be, doing what we are called to do)
They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
Stacey and I will celebrate our 10 year anniversary this coming week and we have had MANY trials, and to be quite honest, there has always seemed to be a struggle of some sort, BUT God has rebuilt us and continuely restors us and we are getting stronger and closer every year. As individuals He is teaching us and causing a desperation for HIm which in turn causes us to yearn for one another. Beauty for Ashes. Just recently Stacey and I were going through some "interpersonal" struggles that I know most relationships deal with. But out of it has birthed such beauty. For years I have tried to encourage Stacey to dig deep inside of herself and write music. Well through our latest struggle I beleive it birthed a first of many POWERFUL songs. I cant give it to you now, I will have to wait untill we record it next month, but let me just say... It is an amazing song. Ill give you just a couple lines.
"You may seem small, but life lives inside you, rightoues, pure and strong
Sit with me so I can build up in you greater love, stay awhile."
Song of the day..

You are always good.
I'm not gonna lie, Yesterday was not a good day for me. I mean it was not horrible but it was not good. I was extremely frustrated, disappointed, hurt, embarrassed, and a few other things.
All night last night i would wake up with a song in my head. the same song. over and over. Not the whole song though just the same few lines, over and over and over. It seemed as if the more i would dwell on my frustration and other emotions, these few lines to this one song would continue to replay in my head.
This morning I opened my bible for my quiet time. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12. "With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
You Know a lot of the time, and for a long time in my life, I have let my circumstances dictate how I pray and how I feel. I have let the NOT SO GOOD days affect how I respond to people, how I respond to my wife, and my kids. I have let it take away my joy. I have let it take away worthiness and meaning of the commitments i have made to the Father. I have let them destroy passion and purpose. I have let it come between me and those I love. In allot of ways it as if I almost feel lost all over again. As I was falling asleep last night i did pray a very simple prayer. "Lord, make me good. make me like you".
"Though the world sees and soon forgets, we will not forget who you are and what you done for us."
"How could I expect to walk without you. When every move that Jesus made was in surrender. I will not begin to live without you. For you alone are worthy. And you are ALWAYS GOOD!"

“Shout Aloud”
Psalm 95:1
Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
How the vision started: It was two and a half years after I had given my life to Christ. I was already filled with His spirit, walking the streets of my home town proclaiming the Gospel and the love of Christ to whoever I could reach. One particular young man who I witnessed to one night took me up on my offer to take Him to church with me. It seemed as if nothing I had ever said to him really made an impact, and the only reason he would come with me was to mock it, and the people who worshiped there. But I was sure that the words had taken root and it was only a matter of time. It was the first time he had ever been in a church so I was worried that it might freak him out. I prayed a very simple prayer before the service began. “Lord, I pray that your spirit and your presence would do the work in him that I cannot do, for it is you who saves”. During the service, I worshiped with complete abandonment, I held nothing back, making every effort to forget my surroundings and just focus on giving God my complete heart and praise. Not long into this portion of the service, I felt a tap on my shoulder; it was this young man who I had brought. His eyes were filled with tears and he was visibly shaken, I just looked at Him and he asked, “Why do I feel like crying, why do I feel like something inside of me is being ripped out”. I said to him, “that’s because you are in the presence of the living God and he longs for you to set aside your sin and live for Him, He Loves you and what you are feeling is His love”. At the very moment, Houston Davis gave his heart to Christ, and at that moment I knew what I wanted to do with my life, I wanted to be one who would usher in the presence of God through worship, because it is in the presence of God that people are saved, set free, restored, and healed. Now you might ask, how does this story relate to the vision and birth of

Now you might ask, how does this story relate to the vision and birth of
“Shout Aloud”?
What is the Vision? The vision of “Shout Aloud” is a service designed to do one thing. To give God liberty, by creating an atmosphere of Worship, praise, & prayer. To encourage all mankind, to lift their voices. To shout aloud, the greatness of God. To Proclaim Him so that our enemy will know who we stand for and who we stand with. Mark 11:23, Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt but believes what he SAYS will happen, it will be done for him.” In order for our faith to be effective, we must learn to use our voices. Now I want to be very clear, I’m not looking to create a service where everyone is con’d into making a bunch of noise just too simply make noise and hype everyone up. This vision is not about having another pep rally. Unfortunately we already have enough of those. This is all about Him, and who we are in Him. When I close my eyes and envision what this would look like, it is a service that has incredible music, with a crowd of people, saved and unsaved. Particular people are selected to be ready to pray when impressed by the Lord, and God just shows up! Pretty simple huh?
What happens before this service takes place is even bigger and will be sure to get those involved a little out of their comfort zone. Eventually this service would take place in churches all over the country. Were we go in and do two days of prayer, worship and preparation. Encouraging and motivating the people in those churches while experiencing the incredible presence of God together, to be ready to go out and call in the harvest. To go out into their towns and cities and bring people to this service where we usher in the presence of God to transform their very souls. The true sign of revival is the salvation of souls. God wants us to bring in the harvest on a grand scale. But not only that, he desires us to worship in a way where the very presence of God transforms the souls of man.
As my wife and I currently work on our second recording project, I have tried very hard to bring people in to be a part of this project that I have worshiped with in the past and who have the same like mind heart. Those who are people of prayer, and have committed their entire life to God and the advancement of His kingdom. In the same way, I want the same for this vision. There are those of you who have impacted my life at one time. There are those of you who I have seen the anointing on and the hand of God. There are those of you who I have sweated and bled with in ministry and on the mission field, There are those of you who have gifts I do not, and if we could all come together and unify our gifts, God would do a work like we have never seen before. I am hungry and desperate for a move of God like I have never seen. I am willing to do whatever it takes.
The People: Some of you are musicians and will be asked to be a part of the worship team. Some of you are prayer warriors and will be asked to pray during the service. Some of you are visionaries and will be able to complete the vision. Some of you are able to draw people, and some of you are just as hungry as I am and want to be a part of something like this.
The very first service of this kind will be one night, but I would like for all of those who commit to be a part of this to be willing to take one, two or three days to fast and pray, to love on one another, to “practice” our songs, and to unify.
The date: I don’t know! would you pray with me and ask Gods direction?
The Place: I don’t want to limit were we will do this initially. I think we could find a place with no problems. I am open to anywhere int he country. I had thought of doing it here, at my home church, but as I have been praying, I felt as if the Lord is telling me to first assemble the army. Assemble those who would be committed to the vision and then we would know where to do it.
So talk it up, pray it up, and let me know.
Do you think this is possible? “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt but believes what he SAYS will happen, it will be done for him.”

Anyone for a "Sloppy Wet Kiss?" Part One.
Hello All! So many things have happened in the past month and half. Great things! Last month Stacey and I had the honor of being brought to a church in the Mid-west to do a Worship Seminar.
This is a huge desire for Stacey and I and God has really been teaching us allot over the years to prepare us for this type of ministry. I was truly blessed by this experience and also by the people involved in the Music Ministry of that church. We received awesome feedback and some constructive criticism that was very beneficial to us as we continue on this path.
One thing I have been hearing about more than anything else, is three words in a worship song we played while we were there. It is a song written by John Mark Mcmillan titled "How He loves us. Here are two links to the song. One with Mark performing the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chx6s3qXKt4 and one with Kim Walker (My Favorite). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoC1ec-lYps&feature=related
Every time we do this song. It explodes! I explode! This song changes me because of the depth and yet the simplicity of the words every time I sing it. Every time! BUT, it seems some people can’t get past three words in this song. They won’t allow themselves to experience the freedom that I believe the Lord has placed upon this song when it is sang with an open heart. These three words are "Sloppy Wet Kiss." Now I don't know about you but I like a good sloppy wet kiss every once in a while, and for me it is a sure true sign of Love, passion, and desire, between two people who are in love with one another! Now read these lyrics, and then I'm going to break it down for all of you who can’t seem to get past "Sloppy Wet Kiss". Don’t take this personal, I'm just trying to help!
We are His portion, and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
if grace is an ocean we’re all sinking.
So heaven meets earth like a "SLOPPY WET KISS"
and my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets
when I think about the way
HE LOVES US, OH HOW, HE LOVES US, OH HOW HE LOVE US, OH HOW HE LOVES!
Let’s take the line, "So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss."
My first question is this...What is it about this arrangement of words that causes people to Squirm?? These three words connected with the rest of the verse produces such a beautiful picture of what it’s like; God's grace, redemption, and love meeting us here on this earth.
I will tell you what it is, and some of you will hate me for it... Its religion!
Religion restricts people. It keeps people from becoming completely vulnerable. So many people will have secret sin in their lives. They watch movies that may not be very pleasing to God. Listen and laugh to off color jokes at work, disrespect your spouses, bad mouth people instead of lift them up, cuss people out when they cut you off in traffic, but to stand in a church and sing this song about God's unfailing love for us, you want nothing to do with it. Instead some people probably scoff at it and do not connect with the depth of it, and therefore look past what the whole whole song is about.. HE LOVES US PERIOD!
SO MANY PEOPLE ARE CHANGED when they sing this song with complete abandonment. It’s a bummer that some people won’t allow themselves to experience the same change and freedom because of three simple, meaningful, properly placed words that is just helping describe the depth of the fathers love for His children.. We are His Portion and HE is our Prize!!
It reminds me about the story of King David, when he was bringing the Ark of the Covenant from the House of Obed-Edom to the City of David. I don’t know how far it was from David’s house to Obed-Edom’s house, but some scholars believe it was close to 17 miles or so.
2 Samuel 6
"David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might, while he and the entire house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouts and the sound of trumpets. As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD, she despised him in her heart."
"When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord."
"Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!” So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her entire life.
There is allot to be said about this and I think it relates very well to what I am talking about here. So many people, religious people, stare out their 'Spiritual" windows and pass judgment on others or how they express themselves and the words they use in order to express their love to God and His love for us. They focus on one thing and throw away the rest. And you need the rest in order to complete the thought and the meaning. Don't get me started on the people who take scripture out of context or pick and choose the parts of God’s word they will follow or believe and discard the rest!
God’s love for us goes allot deeper than the words, "Sloppy Wet Kiss". But if you can’t get past these three simple words, then I fear those people will never experience "Heaven on earth" that God has promised us!
Maybe in Part two, I’ll get into the Song of Solomon? I can really make you turn red!
